Borat-alicious

Loved the show. Shocking, disturbing, and even more shocking. But I enjoyed it! Not for the faint of heart.

My favorite parts:

1) The evangelical revival
2) Fine Dining with high society
3) Storming the hotel convention without raiment

Out of curiosity...What did you think about all the "unsuspecting" stars of the movie - the frat boys, wife @ dinner party, humor coach, etc?

The question is probably for Gspott, but I'm chiming in anyway. I think the stars you mention were true to the Borat sketches that I came to love on the Ali G show. The ability to produce that type of unsuspecting, unscriptable star is what makes the character brilliant. I thougt that much of the movie deviated from the style of the early sketches and just wasn't as funny as I was hoping. Don't get me wrong, I nearly peed myself during a few scenes, but as a whole I was a little disappointed--probably due to my unreasonably high expectations.

I was frightened at the seedy underbelly of American culture that Cohen exposed. The rodeo guy talking about Iraqi massacres and hanging homosexuals was the pinnacle for me. It made me uncomfortable to see that side of our culture. I fervently committed to never allow myself to be associated with anything or anyone who is that myopic.

The movie is a definite novelty and worth seeing. It is notable that some of the "stars" of the show are suing Cohen. I guess the ethics of their consent prcess were questionable. I was also told that Cohen is a Jew...hence the implied license to make the blatant anti-semetic remarks.
